Betty Jean Orton

Betty Jean Orton went to live with her best friend Jesus on July 2, 2026 at the age of 91. Betty was born February 7, 1935, in Minneapolis. She is proceeded in death by husband, Lester; granddaughter, Jennifer; parents, Donald and Marion Holmquist and brothers, David and Michael Holmquist.

Betty embraced life with curiosity, compassion and determination. Whether spending time with family, pursuing her love for singing, reading, gardening and the Boundary Waters or lending a helping hand, Betty made ordinary moments special. As an avid dog lover Betty owned her own dog grooming business for 40 years. She was a lifetime member of the Blaine VFW Auxiliary and was the VFW National Soloist for many years. Betty was a member of St Timothy's Catholic Church for 63 years participating in several choirs and was a longstanding volunteer. She also volunteered at the Coon Rapids Senior Center directing the Golden Tones Choir.

More than anything Betty treasured family and friendships. She always said a stranger was just a friend she hadn’t met yet. Betty is lovingly remembered by her family: children, Missy (David), Shelly (Cary), Beci (Blue), Beth (Ted) and Mike; grandchildren Brittany, Brandy, Patrick, Natalie, Nick, Marques, Emily, Olivia and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Kaynin, Amara, Melissa, Hudson, Stella, Micaiah and Millie; sister, Joy, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and countless friends.
