Bruce Arthur Madsen

Bruce A. Madsen was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa on May 24^th, 1939, and passed away at the age of 84 at his home on November 26^th, 2023, in Mounds View, MN.  Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Olive Madsen, his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy, and two brothers, Rex and Curt. He is survived by his sons, Ric, Jim, and Todd (Shelly), grandchildren Matt (Roxanne), Rachel (Dave) Holvig, Tony (Steph), Macy, Mikala (Eddy) Mihalow, and Luke. Bruce also had 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was an architectural engineer in the petroleum business starting out in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and then moving to Mounds View, Minnesota in 1966, where he still resided in the same home at the time of his passing. Bruce also started out in the National Guards in Cedar Falls, then transferred to the Air Force Reserves when they moved to Minnesota until retiring after 33 years of service.

One of the favorite things Bruce and Nancy liked to do was spending time at the cabin near Pine River, Minnesota, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, playing cards and just relaxing. They especially enjoyed when the kids and grandkids were up at the same time, there was never a dull moment. Grandpa always managed to make sure to find something special to do with the grandkids. Special friends, Ruth and Leo, spent many of these trips with Bruce and Nancy as well, and the number of years they celebrated New Years Eve together with Bruce and Nancy cannot be counted. Bruce and Nancy also loved taking the grandchildren on memorable vacations each summer. No matter where it was spent, they always looked forward to spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bruce’s last Thanksgiving was spent just as both him and Nancy loved it, a house filled with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in celebration of the holiday.

Bruce passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26^th, 2023. Services for Bruce will be on Thursday, December 7^th at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Mounds View, Minnesota at 11am, with visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service, and internment at Fort Snelling with Military Honors at 1:30pm. There will be a processional from the church to Fort Snelling leaving at 1pm.
