Carol Hanson (Winsor), age 81 of Fridley, passed away on May 7, 2018.
Carol was born on May 9, 1936 in South Minneapolis, to Catherine and Charles Winsor and was the youngest of 3; sister, Norma and brother, Chuck. When Carol was 9 months old, their father was killed in an accident and when she was 9 she was raised by her mom and step-father, Dave Miller. She was blessed with 3 more siblings: sisters, Delores and Janet; brother, Dale. She graduated from South High School in 1955 and was very athletic. After High School she worked for a short time at Honeywell when she met and later married Jerome (Jerry) Hanson on December 13, 1957. They moved to Fridley and raised 4 children. She worked at Holiday Store in shipping and receiving for 30 years until she retired. Carol love to be outside with the kids playing kickball and softball, coaching her girls and watching her boys in sports. She love to bowl on her many leagues with friends and with Jerry and she loved to travel in the motor home and play cards. Carol had 2 major back surgeries that left her unable to enjoy her activities and her travel became limited. Carol was a no nonsense type of gal. She loved to laugh, loved her dogs and loved to see her kids and grandkids. Carol will be deeply missed by her children, Ann (Leo) Baca, Michael Hanson, Sue Bengtson, Pat (Sue); grandchildren, Brian (Lisa) Baca, Andrew Baca, Chandra Baca, Alec (Tia) Baca, Andrew Baca, Stephanie Bengtson, Tim Bengtson, Sam Hanson; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Dee, Jan; brother, Dale; brother-in-law, Ken (Barb); sister-in-law, Audrey (Bill); many nieces, nephews and cousins. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents; sister, Norma; brother, Chuck and many aunts and uncles.
Funeral Service Thursday 10, May 10, 2018, at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE Fridley, with visitation 1 hour prior. Visitation will also take play on Wednesday from 4-7pm with Rosary Service at 7PM. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
