Carol Redepenning

December 10, 1934 — May 21, 2019

Fridley

Redepenning, Carol Jane age 84 of Fridley.

Strength, determination, grace, and kindness.

Carol lived her life as only she knew how: embodying these traits and encouraging them in everyone she came into contact with. From Barnes and Noble, to Panera, to her local libraries; Carol is remembered for her kindness and how she made everyone feel like they had a grandmother in her.

For her own family, she was the constant calm in the storm; the rock everyone could seek refuge on to regain their strength and find their footing. No matter how upset or conflicted you were about something, Carol always had just the right words to calm and advise - usually done over a cup of coffee or a murder mystery.

Stop spinning your wheels. Be still. Breathe.

Guided by her own set of strong moral principles and her unshakable faith, Carol accomplished whatever she set her mind to. She regularly attended and volunteered at Redeemer Lutheran Church, and volunteered at the MNSACA food shelf. Whether it was leaving Madison, MN for Chicago to become a beautician, or convincing the grandkids to sneak away one of the dozens of bowling balls in the yard; if she wanted it done, it got done. She lived with a sort of tenacity that would not be denied, and a determination that could not be trampled.

In the end, Carol lived out the remainder of her days with a kind of grace no mere human could manage. She took the news of her cancer in stride and made every single moment worthwhile. She always made sure everyone was well fed and cared for, even when her own concerns should have taken center-stage because that was just the kind of person she was: selfless and absolutely caring.

That is why we celebrate Carol’s life, rather than mourn her loss. We lift up the greatest memories we have of her and cherish them in our hearts for the years to come.

Carol will be remembered as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and best friend.
