David passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 3,2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his sense of humor, kindness and zest for life. In High School he was very proud to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. He led a life of service to others as a member of the US Navy, 27 years as a Deputy for the Hennepin County Sheriff Dept and 30 years as a volunteer firefighter for the city of Fridley. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. His children and grandchildren brought him so much joy. God and family were top priorities but he also enjoyed many outdoor activities such as fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, camping, and biking. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon (Bud) and Betty (Wurst) Lenzmeier. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan (Thompson) Lenzmeier, children Heidi Oppitz (Ben), Tracy Koesel (Chris), Brian Lenzmeier (Megan), 7 grandchildren, brother James Lenzmeier (Diane), and sister Gail Hudson (Jeff), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be held June 12, 2025, at 11 AM, St. Williams Catholic Church, 6120 5Th St NE, Fridley, MN. Visitation will be 1.5 hrs. prior to the service, with a luncheon to follow. Donations can be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association. Private internment at later date, www.millerfuneralfridley.com.
