Delores ValRae Kruger, born on March 10, 1934, in Alexandria. She was the second child born to Hazel and Arthur Peterson, and she spent her formative years in Alexandria. She graduated from Alexandria High School in 1952. A couple years later, she met Howard L. Kruger. They were united in marriage on August 22, 1954, and had 3 sons.
As a teen, Delores began working alongside her parents at the Rainbow Cafe. Her early experience continued at the 'Starlight' drive-in. Delores’s most prominent professional role was at Montgomery Wards at Northtown in Coon Rapids. After retirement, Delores and Howard started 'How-Dee-Do' Ceramics and began traveling together, both internationally and domestically.
In 1995, Delores and Howard built their home on Lake Andrew in Alexandria, where she enjoyed fishing, relaxing on the deck, and enjoying simple life. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. You would usually find her cooking and baking her exclusive goods in her kitchen at any time of the day!
Delores treasured her retirement years with Howard on Lake Andrew until they eventually moved back to Anoka. They later made their home at The Homestead, where they transitioned to assisted living in 2020. Delores remained there until her end of days in 2026.
Above all, Delores’s greatest joy was the family she built. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her three sons, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her caring heart, love of family, and the many special memories she created throughout her life.
Delores is survived by her 3 sons, Kevin (Karla) Kruger, Tim Kruger, and Todd (Kathy) Kruger; 8 grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Kruger, Nichole (Jesse) Goskey, Hillary (Ryan)Washburn, Brent Kruger (fiancé: Emily), Jared (Breanna) Kruger, Kelsey (Aaron) Hayes, Kadean Kruger, and Kimber Kruger; and 12 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Coda, Summer, Alivia, Ellie, Brooks, Walker, Wyatt, Landon, Levi, Grace, and Gabriel.
