Doris Mae Osborne (Collie), age 99, passed away peacefully July 26, 2025. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Don Sr., 3 brothers and grandson Baden Osborne.
Born July 24, 1926, in Nash County, North Carolina, where her family were tobacco farmers. After high school graduation, she moved to New Port News, VA to work in support of the WWII war effort. It was there, at the end of the war, that she met a sailor, Donald Osborne from Hibbing, MN. After a whirlwind courtship, they traveled to Hibbing where they were married February 7, 1946. Don and Doris had 4 children while living in Hibbing; Don Jr, Dave, Debbie and Diane.
When economic times became tough in Hibbing, they moved to Fridley, making the move on October 3, 1959. Nine years after moving to Fridley, Don and Doris welcomed their fifth child to the family, Dean. Doris was very active in the Fridley United Methodist Church where she was dearly loved and respected. She was involved in a full range of church activities from decades of Bible study, frequently reading scripture during Sunday service, organizing special events and helping feed people in need.
Doris was a Christian woman and a Southern Lady. She lived it and set the example in a quiet and unassuming way. Doris loved being a mother. She had a sense of humor but was also a serious, practical and a proper lady. She raised her children to be respectful, encouraged their education and was always there for her family.
Doris is survived by children: Don Jr (Michelle), Dave (Peggy), Debbie Motzko (Tom), Diane, Dean (Trudy), sisters Mary Jane Fielek and Myrtle Harper, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
