Doris Ann Wilson passed away June 29, 2026, at the youthful age of 96. Born July 18, 1929, in Jamestown, ND to Henry Tyler and Ellen Elvira “Vera” (Pryor) Putnam. She was preceded in death by her three siblings, Henry Everett Putnam, Evelyn Mae Drewes, Henrietta "Penny" Matejka; parents; husband, Conrad J. Wilson, and sons, Andy and Bill.
Doris grew up in Long Prairie and Frazee, MN. After graduating from high school, she attended beauty school in St Cloud, MN where she met Conrad while waitressing at a truck stop, got married and moved to Mounds View, MN in 1949. Together they raised four children. For over 35 years she was owner operator of Doris’ Beauty Shop in her home. Doris was an active member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church (formerly Spring Lake Park Lutheran) in Mounds View, MN. After retiring from working at US Bank Doris moved to Luck, WI where she lived until she was 93. She then moved back to Mounds View, coming full circle. Doris was an avid reader, loved sewing and quilting, gardening, the quiet countryside, sitting by the lake, spending time with extended family, feeding the birds, volunteering at church and in the community, and attending many of her grandchildren’s activities.
She is survived by her two daughters, Janet Ficken (Dan), Judy Welty (Bruce); five grandchildren, Erin Stoney (Reed), Kyle Ficken, Seth Welty (Elizabeth), Audra Welty (Justice), and Alexandra Mattila (Nick). Doris was also a proud great grandmother for Tristan Stoney, Rowan Stoney and Harper Welty.
Aunt Doris was deeply loved by her nieces and nephews. Always providing love and support, family stories, and lots of laughs.
A service celebrating her remarkable life will be held on July 20, 2026, at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive, Mounds View, MN at 11 am with visitation one hour prior. Luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Private burial at Anscarius Cemetery in Wood River, WI at a later date.
