Eunice Charlotte Banta

Eunice Charlotte Banta, age 96 years, passed away in Mercy Hospital with Hospice Care in Coon Rapids on September 7, 2025, after a week of pain and suffering from a heart condition. Visitation services will be at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with her funeral beginning 10:00 AM and a luncheon to follow. Her final resting place will be alongside her best friend and loving husband of 34 years at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis, MN at 1:30 PM. Her funeral will be officiated by Craig Hanson, retired pastor from Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Circle Pines, MN. Eunice was born in Eureka, WI to Mildred (Larson) Hutton and William Hutton on November 22, 1928, the fifth in line of twelve children. She married Chuck Banta on June 19, 1947 at her parent's house in Anderson, Wisconsin and remained married for 34 years until the passing of Chuck on June 5, 1981.

Eunice didn't graduate from high school, quitting school in 8th grade to help with farm chores. She completed/received her GED in 1978. She, as was her family, very proud of her achievement,.

Eunice was a homemaker and a stay-at-home mom until her 2 daughters, Louise and Diane, were in high school. Later she worked various part time jobs, her favorite one being Minnesota Fabrics as she loved sewing. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, pie baking (the best in the world), and was a great jigsaw puzzle master. If it took her longer than 3 days to complete a 1,000-1,500 piece puzzle she was frustrated, ready to quit. The next day she'd call to say she finished it. No doubt in our minds she wouldn't!

Eunice was the "go-to-person" of the family. If you needed info about family members (birthdates, marriage dates, dates of passing) or any kind of living skill, she always seemed to have the answer or solution to any question or problem.

Eunice is survived by Daughter: Louise (Gordy) Gustafson; Grandchildren: Keith (Jennifer) Gustafson;

Brandon (Bobbi) Smith; Chad Gustafson; Jessica (Jason) Knutson; and Victoria (Luke Hanish) White;

Great-grandchildren: Rhian Smith; Jack Smith; Cosette Gustafson; Sydney Knutson; Lincoln Hanish; and Henrik Knutson. She is also survived by brother, Jim (Jacquie) Hutton; sister, Nancy (Larry) Cox, and many, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
