Evelyn Marie Swanson of Fridley MN died on Thursday December 25th at her home. She was 92 was born March 6th, 1933, in London Township MN to William and Amanda Thrasher (Olson). She grew up in the country, participated in 4-H, enjoyed gardening, raising sheep, Angus Calves and chickens. She graduated from Lyle High School in May 1952. She had many different types of jobs before she meets the love of her life on a blind date in 1953. She was united in marriage to Roger Swanson on Aug 4th, 1956, at Ascension Catholic Church in Minneapolis. She was blessed with three daughters, June, Brenda and Marlene. She was at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Church of St William building in 1963. She participated as a church volunteer by being on the parish Council, a Sunday School teacher and church greeter. She and her family survived the 1965 Fridley Tornados which devastated Fridley. She retired from Medtronic in 1996 and enjoyed traveling to 32 states. In her later years she enjoyed spending time with family, putting puzzles together, and hearing about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's adventures.
She is survived by her daughters June Ullman (David), Brenda Carlstrom (David) of Red Wing and Marlene Touchberry (Alan) of St Louis Park. Her grandchildren Amanda Keyser (Mikhael) of Red Wing, Anna Touchberry of Tokyo Japan, Adam Carlstrom of Bay City WI and Samuel Touchberry (Libby)of St Louis Park, Great-Grandchildren Quinn, Ashton, Landry and Hart Keyser and Brenna and Amelia Touchberry, Sister Fern Johnson, Sister-in Law Lourdes Thrasher, Brother-in Law Harry Nieman and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger, brothers Arnold Thrasher, Mervin Thrasher and sisters Marlene Thrasher, Dorothy Nieman and Lila Caron.
Evelyn lived every day to the fullest, she will be dearly missed by family and friends. The family is so very grateful to all who cared for Evelyn through Moments Hospice program. Their dedication, respectful approach and personalized care made all the difference.
