Florence Fonken

Florence Irene Fonken, age 93, of Blaine and formerly from New Brighton, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017.  She graduated from Willow Lake High School, Willow Lake, South Dakota, and that is where she met the love of her life, Loyd.  Florence and Loyd were united in marriage on September 23, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland.  Florence was active in her senior groups, and enjoyed spending her time doing crafts.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd.  Florence is survived by her children, Owen (Wanda), Vance, and Jon (Christine); grandchildren, Scott (Sara), Jason (Tristy), Jim, Jessica (Michael) and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Christopher (Makayla), Peter, Janeé, Elliott, Elijah, Micah, Noah, Isaac and Travis.  Funeral service will take place at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2848 County Rd H2, Mounds View, MN 55112, on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 11 AM, with a visitation 1 hour prior.  Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
