Gabriel D'Annunzio Giancola, known to all as Gabe, peacefully went home to join the love of his life, Leslie, on January 1, 2026. He was 95 years old.
Gabe was born on March 25, 1930, to Italian immigrant parents who came to America from the small town of Rocarasso, Italy, in search of a better life. He carried their values of hard work, faith, and family with him every day of his life.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Judge, attorney, and faithful servant of God, Gabe lived a life of purpose and quiet impact. He and Leslie were married in 1956 and shared 63 beautiful years together until her passing in 2019 - a partnership rooted in love, devotion, and unwavering faith.
In 1990, Gabe was appointed Judge of the 10th District Court, a role he carried with integrity, wisdom, and compassion. Prior to and alongside his judicial service, he was a respected partner at Barna, Guzy Law Firm, where he built lifelong friendships and earned the admiration of colleagues and clients alike. His kindness, fairness, and steady presence left a lasting mark on the legal community and beyond.
A longtime resident of Fridley, Minnesota, Gabe was also a beloved member of the community and a resident of Willows Bend in his later years. He was a devout Catholic whose faith guided every aspect of his life. His generosity of spirit, gentle humor, and deep compassion touched everyone who knew him.
Gabe was preceded in death by his beloved wife Leslie and his cherished granddaughter Amber Rose Kimlinger. He was the last surviving sibling of seven children.
He is survived by his loving children: Mark (Jeanine), Paul, Peter (Linda), Lisa (Tom) Kimlinger, and Kristin (Dave) Carlson; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom were the joy and pride of his life.
Gabe will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
