Leaon, Gregory G. , Age 64, of Fridley, MN. Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman U.S. Navy Retired after 24 years of active service. He also worked at the Fridley Target Store for the past 10 years. He passed away in hospice care at The Minneapolis VA Hospital in the presence of his family after a one year battle with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer on January 26, 2024. Preceded in death by father James A. Leaon. Survived by mother, Frances Leaon, his wife, Cathey Leaon; children; Melissa (Marc) Soehl and Courtney Leaon, two granddaughters; Kaelyn and Kelsie Soehl, sisters; Kathleen Leaon, Barbara (Marty) Carnegie, Michele (Paul) Scott, and Nancy (Michael) Plack other relatives and many friends. Greg received a kidney transplant in 2004 from a special woman; Patti Cracauer helped extend his life and has become part of the family. Greg was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan and a member of the Fridley High School Alumni Choir for over 20 years. Thank you to Minneapolis VA Hospital for their care and support.
Greg, you'll be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. You ran a good race and finished your course and you're now in the presence of the Lord.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made on Greg's behalf to: the Fridley Alumni Choir, the PKD Foundation, or the VA Medical Center of Minneapolis
A wake will be held Thursday, February 1 from 4-8 pm at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 NE Hwy. 65, Fridley. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 2 at 11 am, St. William's Catholic Church, 6120 NE 5th St., Fridley. Lastly a celebration of life & luncheon will follow the service, from 1-5pm at Christ Gospel Church 654 119th Ave NE, Blaine.
