Hazel Falldin

Hazel Augusta Falldin, of Fridley, age 94, died December 6, 2022 at The Harbors of Fridley from complications after gallbladder surgery.

Hazel was the youngest of seven children. She lost her mother when she was only 14 years old. Her older sister, Ethel, became her mother and best friend.

Hazel met the love of her life, Kenneth Falldin, on a blind date. They were married 53 years until his passing in 2006. They had a baby daughter, Sandra Ann.

Kenneth and Hazel loved traveling with the Deluxe retirees. They took many wonderful trips around the world. They bought a cabin in Zimmerman on Blue Lake with Ethel and Leonard, Hazel’s sister and brother. Many get-togethers with family and relatives were held at the cabin. The grandsons loved having friends up to the cabin where Hazel fed them all with dinners and treats.

Hazel always loved shopping and boutique-ing, followed by going out to eat. She enjoyed roller-skating, ice-skating, hiking, watching sports, and spoiling her grandsons. A very religious woman, she depended on her faith to get through the difficult times. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Hazel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by daughter, Sandra Strate; grandchildren, Dan (Summer) Strate, James (Carly) Strate, and Thomas Strate; great-grandchildren: Devin, Starlie, Zach, Silas, Maverick, Bristol, Colton; nieces & nephews; other loving family and friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth E. Falldin; parents, Carl and Johanna Cole; all her brothers and sisters and brothers and sisters in law.

Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16th with Visitation at 10:00 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home. Private burial at Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis.
