Laura Jane Morrison (Hall) passed away October 20, 2025, at the age of 60 after battling frontotemporal dementia for several years. She spent her final time at River Oakes Assisted Living in Columbia Heights, Minnesota under hospice care.
Laura was born May 19, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Marilyn (Wick) Hall. She married Jeff Morrison in 1983 and raised 2 children, Jonathan and Thomas. After moving several times, the family settled in the twin cities, residing in Brooklyn Center and finally Fridley. Laura and Jeff separated in 2020 but still looked after one another, Jeff helping her immensely as her health deteriorated.
Having several jobs, Laura worked as a hair stylist, cashier, optical lab technician, and lastly for the postal service. The postal service immersed her in a very diverse community which delighted her. There was always something new she was sharing about different cultures she experienced. She enjoyed helping people and brought a quick wit and sarcastic humor wherever she went.
A bright light in her life was her grandchildren, Evelyn, Macyn, Brooklyn, and Londyn (Thomas). The grandkids brought her great happiness. She had ongoing tattoos of the kids’ names on her arms.
Always by her side was a myriad of animals, many dogs and cats she is now reunited with. The “fur babies” were very spoiled and well loved.
Laura is survived by sons Jonathan and Thomas; ex-husband Jeff; grandchildren Evelyn, Macyn, Brooklyn, and Londyn; nephews Ben, Dan, Brad, and Jason; nieces Becky, and Amanda. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marilyn Hall; brothers Greg, and Steve.
Instead of a formal funeral, a memorial picnic will take place in late spring or early summer 2026. Look for announcements on Laura’s social media.
In lieu of flowers please donate to a local animal rescue of your choice, in her memory.
