Lee was born on April 10, 1941 in North Branch to Lee and Alvina (Koecher) Hitzeman. He grew up in Fridley and graduated from Spring Lake High School in 1958. After high school, Lee attended Dunwoody Institute. He was united in marriage to his high school sweet heart, Aneita Lappe on July 20, 1963 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Blaine. Together, they lived most of their lives and raised their family in Spring Lake Park and Vadnais Heights and were members of Messiah Lutheran Church in Mounds View. Lee had a strong faith and was very involved with the church as the congregation president, sang in the church choir, and served on several other committees. Lee and Aneita loved to spend time with their church family, playing cards, ski trips, and were known for their unique and fun get togethers. Lee was very proud to have worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 3M for 35 years and retired in 1999. Family was extremely important to Lee. He loved being with his family, going on family trips to Grandview Lodge, being on the lake, boating, fishing trips and being involved in the lives of his children and his grandchildren. Lee had a great sense of humor, was kind, sweet, cheerful and always loved unconditionally. If there was something that needed to be done, he figured it out with kindness and involved others. He was a great example of faith and his legacy impacted many people. Lee was a great role model for others and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Lee is survived by his wife, Aneita; children, Steve (Lisa) Hitzeman, Linda (Brian) Krohn, and Cady (Tim) Hendrickson; sister, Barb Hitzeman; grandchildren, Hannah, Kelly, Chase, Alex, Ethan, Jack, and Ben; great grandchildren, Preston, Amiya, Evelyn, Beau, Karter, Kayson, and Elias.
