Lorraine Zena Nelson, age 96, of Blaine, MN, passed away November 1, 2026. Lorraine was born November 1, 1930 to Zena (Olthoff) and Harold Weets in Pipestone, MN. She grew up in Detroit Lakes as one of ten children. Lorraine married her husband James Nelson on August 10, 1950, and the pair had four children, Kenneth, Elizabeth, Janet, and Joann. For many years, Lorraine worked in a factory for H.B. Fuller. After retiring, she and James enjoyed travelling. They spent winters in Florida and summers back home, where they were avid golfers. Eventually, the pair purchased a house in Fridley, where they remained for many years.
In addition to being an accomplished golfer, Lorraine loved to crochet, sew, and cross-stitch. She was generous, often making things to give to her family and friends. Lorraine was also amazing at crossword puzzles. She did them throughout her life and regularly finished books of them. By many, Lorraine will be remembered for her delicious pumpkin bars. Her recipe will be made by her loved ones for years to come.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband, James Nelson; parents, Harold and Zena Weets; siblings, Lee, Dennis, Gertrude, Harold, Jeanette, Darlene, and Delbert; and grandson Daniel. She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Angela) Nelson; daughters, Elizabeth (Dennis) Larson, Janet (Gary) Sordahl, and Joann Jabs; sisters, Eileen and Shirley; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
