Marcia Marilyn (Johnson) Anderson, age 93 passed away in Roseville, MN on June 14, 2024. She was born on June 21, 1930 in Eveleth, Minnesota to Signe (Niemi) and Ralph Johnson. Marcia played trumpet in the school band, was a stellar student, acted in many plays, and she was also on the debate team. After graduating from Eveleth High School, she attended Eveleth Junior College and graduated with an A.A. Degree in Elementary Education.
She married the love of her life Marshall Anderson of Eveleth on September 30, 1950 and they lived and raised six children in Roseville, MN. In 1988 she and Marshall moved to their Bay Lake home near Deerwood, MN. Marcia was a devoted wife and caring mother, and she created a wonderful home for her family. She loved caring for and educating her six children and was extremely well organized with all of the cooking, housework, gardening, sewing, shopping, and all of the other things she did for her large family. Marcia liked family activities such as the whole family singing together while she played the piano, singing and telling stories around the campfire, and holiday and birthday gatherings. Marcia also enjoyed reading, swimming, traveling, boating, skating, playing games, and being out in nature. Along with being a busy mom, after several of her children were in college, she also worked part-time at the Parkview School’s Career Learning Center, and later at a travel agency in St. Paul.
Marcia’s husband, Marshall, passed away on November 3, 2023. Marcia is survived by their six children, daughters Lynn Anderson, Kay Chambers (Thomas), Noreen Olson (Kevin), Jean Aukee (Dale), and sons Keith (Ellen) and Roger (Lara). She has ten grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) Brosvik, Stephanie (Bryan) Stack; Drew (Britta) Chambers, Jeffrey (Pin-Chen) Chambers, Rachel (Blake) Kosciolek; Ross (Heidi) Olson, Tyler (Nikki) Olson; Stacy (Derek) Hensche; Britta Aukee, Esko (Jess) Aukee; and nine great grandchildren, Victor Brosvik, Bella Stack; Roscoe and Bowen Chambers, Millie Chambers, Branch and Wrenley Kosciolek; Cameron, Emmett, and Amelia Olson; Jordan and Brooklyn Olson; and Harper Hensche. She is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers Ronald and Ralph.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 1 with visitation at 10am, service at 11am and luncheon to follow at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Dr., Mounds View. MN. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Lutheran Social Services.
