Nancy Jane Redmond, 87, of Fridley, Minnesota, took up her new residence in heaven on May 19, 2026. She was born on May 25, 1938 to Fred and Johanna (Kuss) Presher in Chicago, IL. During her early years her family moved to IN and finally settled in Minneapolis, MN in the 1950s.
In 1956, Nancy graduated from high school at Minnehaha Academy and then completed nursing school at The Swedish Hospital. After she finished her nursing degree, she went to Oak Hills Bible Institute. It was at Oaks Hills she met and married “Her Johnny” the love of her life on September 1, 1962.
John was a pastor and Nancy was the perfect pastor’s wife. They had four children, Scott, Shelly, Jenny, and Kent, and she described them as precious gifts from God. Through the years they lived in MN, NC, VA, WI, and then back to MN.
Nancy not only loved being a pastor’s wife; she loved being a nurse as well. She had fond memories of her time at Blue Ridge Nursing Home and Presbyterian Homes at Johanna Shores. She described her work as a wonderful challenge and felt privileged to help her dear Alzheimer’s residents.
After Nancy retired in 2006, her main desire was to pray for and encourage others, as well as to commit more scripture to memory. She loved people and making deep connections with family and friends; a true example of loving God and loving others.
Many people were blessed with her musical abilities. As an accomplished pianist and vocalist she filled her home and church with beautiful music through the years. She continued to play her piano until her final days.
Steady, humble, peaceful, self-less, intentional, caring, faithful, loving, helpful, encouraging, and Spirit-filled are just a few of the many attributes her children and others think of when they remember her. Nancy had a way of making everyone around her feel seen, safe, and loved.
Those who will miss her deeply and are extremely grateful to have called her Mom and Nana are her children, Scott (Faith) Redmond, Shelly (Jerry) Kragt, Jenny (Bill) Honeck, and Kent (Tara) Redmond; grandchildren, Chris, Amanda, Princess, Thomas, Katie (Justin), Anna (Zach), Jason (Lily), Billy (Sylvana), Brooke, Bryce, Lucy, John, and Henry; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, David (Melinda) Presher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Redmond; parents, Fred and Johanna Presher; and sister, Judy Presher.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Woodcrest Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 10. A luncheon will follow. Nancy will be interred with her husband at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC. The family invites you to wear yellow, Nancy’s favorite color, to the service.
