Olga Agnes Mavis, 87, East Bethel, MN, passed away on February 15, 2026. She was born March 5, 1938 in Erskine, MN to Orval and Olive (Amoth) Salthe.
When Olga was young, her family moved to Bemidji, MN and it was here that she graduated from high school. She became a nurse’s aide at the local hospital while also caring for aging grandparents. Olga met Lloyd Mavis while at a community dance. After getting married, they moved to the twin cities area, where they made their home for the next 60 years together. Olga went on to become a preschool teacher, a job that she loved and held for more than 20 years.
Olga loved to polka dance and loved events and get togethers where she could socialize. Church and family were very important to her. She joined the Altar Guild at Messiah Lutheran Church and participated for many years.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her son, Allen (Robin) Mavis; grandchildren, Allison (Nick), Emily (Danny), Phil, Josiah (Erica), and Christine (Nick); great-grandchildren, Duncan and Atlas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Mavis; parents, Orval and Olive Salthe; and siblings, Keith, Lois, Robert “Bob”, and Norman.
A private family service will be held. Olga will be laid to rest at Cedar Cemetery in Oak Grove, MN.
Friends and family are welcome to sign the online guestbook.
