Richard Thomas, age 53, of Rogers, MN, passed away on Monday, March 18, from complications of a stroke. Richard grew up in Chicago, IL, and Gary, IN. After graduating high school he joined the Army National Guard as an engineer and then switched to active Army in communications. He was stationed in Germany where he met is wife, April. They settled in Minnesota and raised their family.
He was a member of Living Word Christian Center. He served in several capacities at the church, including security and the children’s ministry.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leah Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, April; son, Kurt; daughter, Imani, and her fiance’, Dillon Malenke; grandchildren, Kamani and Malani; father, J.L. Thomas; brother, Jeremy Thomas, and his fiance’, Marcela Alvarez Parra; sisters, Nicky, Aja, Lisa (Pierre Chamaty); along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and much-loved family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27th, at Living Word Christian Center located at 9201 75th Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN. Family and friends are welcome for visitation beginning at 1 pm. Service will be at 2 pm.
