Ronald J. Sundell

Ronald J. Sundell, age 90, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Regions Hospital in St Paul. A day of remembrance and gathering will be announced at a future date.

Ron was born on December 20, 1935 in Minneapolis. He graduated from South High in Minneapolis in 1954, and earned his Bachelors degree from Metropolitan State University. Ron was an Atomic Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corp from 1954-1956. Ron was united in marriage to Mary Johnson on January 7, 1960. Together, they lived in New Brighton from 1968 until her death in September. After raising their own children, Tim and Richard, they became foster parents for seven children. Ron's career with Hennepin County lasted 37 years, where he worked at the Juvenile Detention Center and Neighborhood Probation offices. Ron was also a scoutmaster, and enjoyed woodworking, woodcarving, reading, and his annual fishing trip with friends. His ready smile and warm personality will be missed by all who knew him.

Ronald is survived by his sons, Tim (Mary) and Richard; grandchildren, Ben (Courtney) and Kate; great-grandchildren, Eli and Jude. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and his parents, Claude and Adeline.
