Russell “Russ” LeRoy Morse, age 78, of Blaine, MN, passed away unexpectedly due to medical complications on Sunday, May 3, 2026. He was born September 8, 1947, at home in Stone Lake, Washburn County, WI, to Alden and Eldora (Bass) Morse. He graduated from Spooner High School in 1965.
Following graduation, Russ moved to Minneapolis, MN, and joined the U.S. Navy in 1966. He actively served from 1966 to 1970 on the U.S.S. Saratoga as an airframe mechanic. While on leave from the service in 1969, he met the love of his life, Linda Bouchard, when picking his sister up from nursing school.
Upon discharging from the Navy in 1970, Russ and Linda were married on August 1st. They raised their family in Blaine, MN, where they resided until they moved to Mounds View in 2025. He had a career in trucking and transportation, which he loved. After retiring, he enjoyed finding new ways to connect with people at Duluth Trading Company.
Russ was a consistent and dependable husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was kind and generous to everyone he met and was happy to lend a hand whenever and wherever he could. He greatly enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, and bingo—activities he was happy to enjoy with anyone who was willing to go (as long as you could keep up). But above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He’ll be remembered as a happy and caring person who truly was one of a kind.
Russ was a beloved brother, husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa and is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Scott (Misty); daughter, Traci (Jon); grandchildren, Alexander, Mikenzie (Gage), Cameron, Stephen (Sierra), Gavin (Giulia), and Teighan; bonus granddaughter, Kristianna (Wesley); great-grandchildren, Emma and Skylar; siblings, Monte (Ethel), Jesse (Barbara), Wanda (Wayne), and Audrey (William); and a loving extended family of many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alden and Eldora; sister, Beulah; and brother, Darwin.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Roseville Covenant Church. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., and a luncheon will follow. Inurnment will be at 3 p.m. at Morningside Memorial Gardens. The family requests that people don’t feel obligated to dress up; please attend the services dressed comfortably as Russ would have wanted.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Haven for Heroes MN.
