Hillbo, Griffin Karl – age 43 passed away in his home on April 1, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife, Mari; son, Ethan; parents Tryg and Barb Hillbo; Brother, Alec; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Born in Madison, WI, Griffin graduated from Madison West High School, the University of Minnesota and the Minneapolis Police Academy. Griffin was a lifelong volleyball enthusiast, an ardent fitness advocate, an avid outdoorsman, an adventurous traveler, a competitive shooter, and an extreme racing participant. His outgoing nature and love of adventure had him traveling the country and the world, making friends wherever he went.
Sergeant Hillbo served the Minneapolis Police Department for 22 years where he worked to keep our community safe as a trained paramedic, SWAT sniper and MPD’s medical training coordinator. He invested himself in training his peers and instituted many life-saving initiatives within the department all in the interest of keeping the community safe.
Griffin will be remembered as a proud father, a brave man, a caring friend, and an instigator of fun.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 13th from 5-8 PM. and a Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, October 14th at 1:00 PM with visitation one hour prior all at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy. 65 NE, Fridley. (763) 571-1300 In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
