Thelma Nash, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday September 22, 2023.
Thelma was born in Barre Mills, WI to Ewald and Hulda Meisner. Thelma married her high school sweetheart Myron Nash on August 14, 1960 in Wykoff, MN.
Thelma and Myron moved to Fridley, MN in 1960 to begin her career at St. Philips Lutheran Church, where she started as church secretary and part time organist, and held multiple positions including Director of Childhood Education, and eventually retired as Church Administrator in 2005.
During that time Thelma and Myron had a daughter Sara, son Peter, adopted a son Philip, and then took in a foster son Tri. Thelma enjoyed playing the piano, singing, gardening, and observing wildlife in their backyard. Thelma enjoyed vacationing with family in campgrounds, National Parks, the Boundary Waters, the family cabin, and at other attractions, as well as travelling to Israel, St. Thomas, Hawaii, and Vietnam. Thelma also enjoyed being part of the St. Philips Disaster Relief team, rebuilding homes after flooding from natural disasters.
Thelma was preceded in death by Ewald Meisner (Father), Hulda Meisner (Mother), and David Meisner (Brother).
Thelma is survived by husband Myron; daughter Sara (Rick Northrup); son Philip (Andrea); son Peter; foster son Tri; grandchildren- Melissa, McKinlee, Zachary, Madeline, Jana; great grandchildren – Bailee, Andrew, Ava; great-great grandchild Hendrix; sisters – Joyce (Joel Magnuson), Diane Campeau, Lois (Bob Neis), brother Dennis Meisner (Jane), and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services for Thelma will be held on Friday, September 29th at St. Philips Lutheran Church at 2:00 PM in the Sanctuary. The interment of ashes will take place following the service for immediate family.
