Timothy Bruce Poirier

Timothy "Tim" Bruce Poirier, of Fridley, MN, passed away on February 27, 2026 at the age of 71 years old.

Tim graduated from Big Lake High School in 1972 and attended college at Minnesota State University Moorhead.  Following undergrad, he attended William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul attaining his J.D. in 1980.

Tim practiced law for 43 years at Lowry Hill Law offices formerly known Harrigan & Hanley & Poirier in Minneapolis, MN.  He also practiced at his Poirier Law office in Big Lake, MN

Tim lived with deep integrity, offering not only his skill as an advocate, negotiator, and advisor, but also his genuine care for every family member, friend, and person who sought his counsel.

While attending his coworker’s wedding, Tim met the groom’s sister, Jill Loomis.  He had no idea at the time that his coworker Kathy would one day become his sister-in-law.  The heel of Jill’s shoe broke while they were dancing.  After the reception Tim offered and carried her to the car.  That night became the beginning of a 42 ½ year marriage.  The couple made their home in Fridley and welcomed their son, Alex, in 1995.

Jill and Tim shared a lifelong love of the outdoors and staying active.  They spent countless weekends on their tandem bike, pedaling up north and exploring local bike paths.  After Alex was born, their adventures only grew. As a family, they biked, hiked, camped, traveled, cross country skied, and soaked up time at the lake whenever they could—embracing every season and every chance to be outside together.

Grateful for having shared in Tim’s life are his wife, Jill Poirier; son, Alex (Elizabeth); granddaughter, Averie; three sisters; four brothers; and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Arlene Poirier.

Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Fridley United Methodist Church, 680 Mississippi St. NE.  Visitation begins at 10.  Luncheon will follow the service.
