Vernon was a Bronze Star V recipient in the Korean War. After retirement, worked at Greenhaven Golf Course in the pro shop for 18 years. Preceded in death by loving wife, Dorothy; Survived by children, son, Kurt (Nhan Lu) Nyberg; daughters, Kathy (Jeff) Brastad, Karen Nyberg; sisters, Dorothy Vetsch, Annie Westlund; grandchildren, Quynh, Nick, Chau, Mike, Justin, Ana & Kristin; great grandchildren, Eva, Josie & Nico.
