Wayne Pickett

Wayne Allan Pickett of Blaine, MN was born William Satchell in Jenkins, MN on May 15, 1928 and went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2010 at the age of 82. Wayne spent several years in the state school at Owatonna until he was adopted by Allan Lee Pickett and Clara Sanderson (Tompkins) Pickett of Duluth, MN, in December 1939. Following in his fathera�(TM)s footsteps, Wayne enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in July 1946. After he was discharged in Feb. 1948, Wayne joined the USMC Reserves. His reserve unit was activated in 1950. While serving in Korea, Wayne was captured and was a P.O.W. for 999 days. After his release, Wayne was discharged from the Marines in Oct. 1953. On Dec. 5, 1953, Wayne married the love of his life, the girl who waited at home for him, Helyn Bergman. To this union six children were born. Wayne worked for 3M in St. Paul as an electrical designer and retired from 3M in 1994. Wayne did a lot of wood working after retiring and belonged to several service organizations. Wayne was a long time member of The Presbyterian Church of the Master and served his Lord in many capacities in the church. Wayne is survived by his wife, Helyn, his six children, Kathy (Bill) Judnick, Bill (Shelley), Sharon (Robert) Wilson, Allan (Kim), Keith and Steve (Heather); his grandchildren Jason, Jennifer (Eric), Krista, Zach, Justin (Nicole), Brandon, Chandra and Garret; great-granddaughters Delilah and Brooklynn, his sisters Shirley and Donna, his niece Sue, and sisters-in-law Erma and Yvonne, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service Thursday 11 AM with visitaion 1 hour prior at the Presbyterian Church of the Master, 789 Northdale Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids. Visitation also 6-8 PM Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy. 65 NE, Fridley. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
