New Brighton

Barbara “Barb” Rose Lemieux Carlson, 80, passed away peacefully with family members gathered around her from complications of a stroke on July 16th, 2020. She was born on December 13, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN to John Israel and Violet (Moynihan) Lemieux. Barb will be dearly missed by her husband of 58 years, Thomas “Tom” William Carlson. Barb is survived by three amazing children John and Patty (Verzal) Carlson of Minnetonka, Mary Ann (Carlson) and Kris Hawley of Blaine and Patrick and Patricia (Powers) Carlson of Madison, WI. She treasured her three grandchildren Katie Hawley of Blaine, MN, Dan Hawley of Sioux Falls, SD and Tim Carlson of Minnetonka, MN.

Barb’s father, John Lemieux, had a position with the Soo Line Railroad and the young family moved frequently from Portal and Enderlin, ND, to Weyerhaeuser WI and finally to Gladstone, MI. Barb graduated from high school in Gladstone and worked early mornings in a local bakery to pay for her future nursing education at Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN. Barb worked as a registered nurse (RN) for 47 years, 45 were spent as a surgical nurse. She was employed with the Diamond Group as a surgical assistant for the last 29 years of her career. Nursing was a passion to Barb, she throughly looked forward to her job every day. Barb leaves an irreplaceable void to many co-workers, friends and family members.

The family requests that memorials in Barb’s honor be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Minneapolis at https://lourdesmpls.org/text-to-give
or at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, One Lourdes Place, Minneapolis, MN 55414

The family will be conducting a memorial celebration of Barb’s life at a future date and time.
