Obituary

Gerald T. (Jerry) Paulson, Age 87 of Otsego, MN. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. In the days leading up to his death he was surrounded by family and enjoying lots of great memories. Gerald was born on November 30, 1932 in Alma, Wisconsin to Miley & Gertrude Paulson. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Nancy Lynn Paulson, his parents, Miley & Gertrude Paulson, Sisters, Marilyn Panzer & Elaine Forthun. Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Arlene; Son, James Paulson; Daughter, Beth (Don) Hermann; Grandchildren, Dustin (Megan) Paulson, Ashley (Patrick Ryan) Paulson, Travis (Abbey) Hermann, Chelsey (Tyler) Hanson, Tyler Hermann; Great-Grandchildren, Maddelyn, Nolan, Macie, Calvin & Bo; Grand-dog, Remy; Sister, Karen (Darrell) Dieckman, many nieces & nephews.

Gerald grew up in Mondovi, Wi where he graduated high school in 1951, He then joined the National Guard and went on to Eau Claire Vocational college to study drafting. He worked for Possis, Snap on Tools and retired as a machine designer from 3M in 1998. Gerald met his wife Arlene in 1959 while they worked at Walgreen’s in Eau Claire, Wi he was a soda jerk and she was a waitress. They were married on February 27, 1960 and celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this year.

Gerald had a love for cars, always keeping them clean and shiny. You could always find him watching sports in his favorite recliner. He enjoyed being retired working in his garage or workshop building model cars or airplanes. If you were one of the lucky ones to know him you knew he was the most generous person out there. Always a smile. He was a master at the claw machine game winning toys for his grandkids at the local restaurants. He was so proud to attend all of his grandkids sporting events and proudly displayed pictures of all of them. A lot of people do not get the opportunity to live a full life, and at the age of 87 he definitely did just that. He really just loved being with family and at the end being with his wife Arlene. Until we meet again….Somewhere over the Rainbow!

At this time there will be no formal funeral service due to the current Covid safety restrictions. We hope to have a future Celebration of Life for all to attend.
