THE LOSS OF A WONDERFUL MAN!! Harvey Rodric Kienholz, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on April 22, 2022. Preceded in death by parents, Don and Lois Kienholz, step-mother, Inez, and brother, Luverne Kienholz. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice: brother, Chuck (Gwen); sister-in-law, Shirl. Sons, Don (partner Seth House), and Dean (Sarah). Four grandchildren, Kayla (Joe) Buresh, Megan, Chad and Joelle Kienholz. One great- grandchild, Noa Buresh.

On September 10, 1935, Harvey was born in Bird Island, MN to Don and Lois Kienholz. His mother, Lois (Latham) passed away when he was 11 years old. Later, his father, Donald, remarried Inez Fanjoy of Fairfax, MN. They resided in Bird Island where the three boys, Harvey, Luverne, and Chuck, were raised. During this time, Harvey spent many hours with his Grandpa Kienholz helping on his farm, learning a lot about farming and animals. He attended Bird Island High School and participated in football, baseball, and choir. During this time his passions of hunting, fishing, and the outdoors grew. After high school he attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN where he received his degrees in physical education and history. While there, he played football and started wrestling for the first time. He was very accomplished in both sports.

Upon graduating from Gustavus, he became a teacher and coach. His first teaching job was in Elmore, MN where he met his wife, Janice. They married on December 27, 1960. Harvey & Janice moved to Fridley, MN where Harvey took a teaching job with the Spring Lake Park School District. He coached football, wrestling, baseball, and served as Athletic Director (6 yrs). He was instrumental in helping many students and athletes in becoming better, caring individuals. Harvey retired in 1993 after 34 years of teaching and coaching. He was honored to be inducted into the Spring Lake Park Hall of Fame in 2016.

Harvey enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips and loved to tell stories from his adventures. In February of 2020, Harvey and Janice moved to an Assisted Living Complex. Here, they enjoyed apartment living and were very happy and content.

We thank all of our family and friends for their support and friendship. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and all the many times at the cabin on Mille Lacs.
