Jane Curran

February 15, 1936 — September 27, 2020

North Oaks

Curran, Jane B. (nee Soucy) passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Algerie and Winifred Bausman Soucy and sisters, Mary Ann Soucy, Jeanne Sinclair and Suzanne Rhoda.

She was born on February 15, 1936 in Marshall Minnesota, the fourth of five sisters. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Minnesota where she pledged Alpha Gamma Delta, and received a Bachelor's  degree from Mankato State University in 1959.

A lifelong dedicated and admired teacher, her first years were as an elementary school teacher in the Madison, Wisconsin school system. After moving to Minnesota in 1968, she taught within Mounds View School District for nearly 30 years in the elementary grades. She had a wonderful and gifted way with children, and was especially dedicated to helping those students who needed extra support and assistance.

Jane was active in golf and tennis in her later years and was an enthusiastic hiker, often seen power walking the paths around Turtle Lake where she lived. Over the years, she planted and tended beautiful flower gardens both at her home and at her daughter's. She will be most remembered by her family and friends for her highly developed and competitive skill in playing cards, especially bridge, for her excellent pies and pastries and perhaps, most of all, for her unique, witty, memorable and sharp sense of humor.

A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ann Ray (Steven) and Jeanne Mack (Michael), grandchildren Patrick (Elianna) and Jacob Mack, Matthew, Peter and Catherine Ray; and great-grandchildren Jefferey MacDonald, Colton and Ansley Mack; by her sister, Betty Jo Olson of Berkeley, California; former husband, James R. Curran; and many nieces and nephews.

Private services for the family in celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
