Michael P. Johnson of St. Anthony, MN, loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020, his favorite day of the year, St. Patrick’s Day.

Mike was born on July 5, 1950, in Minneapolis, MN to Woodrow and Rita Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Marilyn Burmeister, Marlene Skiles and Vicki Nehring; and brother, Lee Johnson. Mike is survived by sons Brandon (Sarah), Bryan Sharbono; grandchildren Finnegan, Jameson and Keira; sister Kathy Nelson; and brother Dennis (Karol) Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mike loved spending time playing games with his grandchildren and was very proud of their Irish names. He enjoyed watching them participate in their sporting activities and telling them many stories of his childhood.

Mike attended Edison High School and spent most of his life working as a Quality Assurance Manager. He was a very proud Marine and a Vietnam Veteran. Mike served as the radioman for a 7-man team with the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion. He received the Combat Action ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He also served 7 years in the National Guard achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and treasured his trip to Ireland. He could always put a smile on your face and was always the first person to show up for a party. Mike enjoyed his work with the Metro Marines, volunteering for Toys for Tots, and was a past commander of the Westphal American Legion.

A burial and public celebration of life will be planned at a future date. In lieu of flowers, Memorials should be sent to the Metro Marines or a donation to Toys for Tots. Semper Fi.
