Pamela Rae Westergaard (Fournier) age 74 of Oak Grove.
Pam was born on January 30th, 1947 to Lillian Amundson and Farley Fournier in Portland Oregon. When she was a little girl, they moved to Thief River Falls Minnesota to be close to Grandma Rena and Grandpa Adolf, with her siblings Diane, Shirley, Jim and Bruce. Eventually they moved to South Minneapolis and years later, her brother Robbie was born. They were very poor and it was difficult to get by. She was just a little girl, but wanted to make their house a home. To do so, she would clean and decorate with what they had. Pam always had a love for animals. It started with her childhood dog, Tipper, that went everywhere with her. She had many beloved cats and dogs that she adored.
In her teen years, Pam was tough. She was a badass! Nobody messed with her or her siblings, or they got a knuckle sandwich! This never went away as she got older. She was a spitfire, she was blunt, to the point, tell it like it is, no filter type of person. She was real.
When she was 18, she married Jerry Scribner and had her 2 sons, Brett and Barry. Jerry put her through hell and they ended up getting divorced when she was 21. In 1970, at the age of 23, she had a little girl. She was unable to take care of 3 kids on her own, so she made the hardest decision of her life and gave her up for adoption to a wonderful couple. At the age of 26, she met Lenny Westergaard on a blind date. They were married at 28 and together ever since. Pam and Lenny bought a house in North Minneapolis. In 1980, they had their first child together, Dana. In 1984, they had their son, Chris.
Pam was a homemaker and stayed at home with the kids until they went to school. She was a very loving, caring and nurturing mother. She always had a squeaky clean house, the beds were made and dinner was done. She worked as a caregiver, taking care of vulnerable adults until she retired.
Pam was a talented gardener. She loved gardening, the whole backyard was always full of beautiful flowers and plants. Inside was full of plants, too. In 1992, the family moved to Oak Grove where they stayed. Several acres of grass, trees and flowers that she tended to.
In the Spring of 2017, she met her daughter Kelli, who she gave up for adoption. They ended up really connecting and having a great relationship. She was so happy and excited to learn about Kelli, spend time with her, and to get to know her and her husband Jason.
In her free time, she loved to do crafts making plaques. She loved to go shopping and collect things, especially coffee cups. Pam was always grooming her dogs, giving them baths and even brushing their teeth. She was always bringing her dogs on walks when the weather was right.
Pam was always there to help her family in any way. She always wanted to spend time with them and her granddaughters, Lexie and Kendall. She would do anything for her family. Pam and Lenny were married for 46 years. They had their ups and downs, but their love always remained. She had the best sense of humor and a laugh that was contagious. She knew the Lord and loved the Lord. With her sudden passing, we all know that she’s in heaven smiling down in perfect peace. Working in God’s garden...
