Born April 4, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, to Quincy C. Blue, Sr. and Priscilla (Jackson) Blue. He was the oldest of 10 children. As a teenager, Quinn taught Sunday school lessons to some of the smaller children at church. He graduated from McKenzie High School with the Class of 1971. Quinn had a hobby of photography and a darkroom in the family basement, which he decided to double as his bedroom, and Quinn could be heard singing along to Jimi Hendrix records playing loudly on his stereo. In July 1975, Quinn made the move from Detroit, Michigan (MI) to Minneapolis, Minnesota (MN) to start a new life. He received a Certificate in broadcasting from Brown Institute in 1982. He was a Quality Assurance Technician at Magnetic Peripherals, Inc. – Control Data, from 1978 to 1986, and also at 3M from 1986 to 1996. He worked as Production Lead at Second Harvest Heartland, in Golden Valley, MN from 2003 to 2014 at which time he retired. Quinn had a passion for music and singing. He was loved by many who had the chance to hear, play and experience music with him. He was well known among the karaoke circuit, bands, and many musicians around the metro Twin Cities. He sang with the NRG band from 2002 to 2003 also with a vocal band, Exzit Only from 2001 to 2012. It was not uncommon for him to be called on stage by various bands when spotted in the crowd those who knew him. He attended many concerts and kept the ticket stubs for his memories. Ask Quinn about his children, and out popped his cell phone to show photos of his two girl cats, Racket (13) and Sadie Mae (5), which he loved and spoiled. He also loved building computers and tinkering with them. He built his mother a computer this past summer to replace an outdated one he had previously built for her some years back. Quinn met Paulette Heise, in the winter of 2009 in Columbia Heights, MN. After a four year friendship, they had their first official date on June 30, 2013. He and Paulette enjoyed many good times and years together. They remained together until his passing. After weeks of illness, on October 11, 2020, around 3:40 am, Quinn succumb to his battle with Covid-19 with no known underlying conditions, at Mercy Hospital - Unity Campus in Fridley, MN. His death was a shock to the many who are left behind; his mother and father both of Detroit, MI; five sisters: Gloria Blue of Tempe, AZ, Brenda A. Beal (David) of Conyers, GA, Caroline Blue, Katina Blue and Wykina Blue all of Detroit, MI; one brother: Dennis Blue of Detroit, MI; his companion, Paulette Heise of Blaine, MN; one uncle: Lee Curtis Jackson of Detroit, MI; one aunt: Hattie Sadler of Saint Louis, MO; three nephews, four nieces, great nephews and nieces, and a host of cousins, friends and followers. Three of Quinn’s brothers preceded him in death; Ronnie Blue (Stillborn 1957), Terry Blue (1993), Ricky Blue (2004). Quinn’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be organized in the spring or summer of 2021 in an outside gathering.
