Johnson, Vernon F. of New Brighton, MN passed away peacefully on 1/21/2020 at the age of 91. He is eternally united with his loving wife of 64 years, Charlotte (McCuaig) Johnson.
Vernon was born in Taylors Falls, grew up in Almelund, and graduated from North Branch High School. Right after graduation, he enlisted in the Army and with his gift for fixing anything he moved from uncrating Jeeps to running the motor pools in Osaka, Japan during the occupation.
After the Army, he met the love of his life at a dance in Forest Lake. He and Charlotte were happily married for 64 years. He graduated from Dunwoody and worked as a Master Diesel mechanic and shop steward for Ruan Transport. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoor and BWCA enthusiast, Scout leader, and world traveler. Vern and Char’s love of camping, golfing, Florida and their MN lake home kept them in balance.
He is preceded in death by his wife Charlotte, his parents, and two infant grandchildren and is Lovingly remembered by sons Mark (Debra) and Scott (Jean); daughter Kara Ruwart (Tom); grandchildren Kari, Erik (Yara), James, Brian (Ariela), Kaylene, and Thomas; and great-grandchildren Kensington and Leo.
Celebration of life will be held on Sat, April 11, 2020, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church in Fridley, MN. Visitation beginning at 10 AM with service at 11 AM. Luncheon to follow.
